rnESS ASSOCIATION. GISBORNE, April 14In the Supreme Court to-day Edmund Charles Bedward was acquitted on a charge of administering a noxious thing to wit, beer—to a small boy. CHRISTCHURCH, April 14. Elizabeth Streeter, who pleaded enilty in the Supreme. Court to-day to a charge of forging a cheque, was admitted t 0 bation fol six months Mr Justice Denniston described the offence as one oftho most extraordinary cases of 'soatedcr.m he had ever met. The girl b . ore an ® x d cellent character, and came from eooa surroundings, yet the forgery was skilful and showed that the Perpetrator had a knowledge of cheques, wh.ch led him to think there was some one behind the girl. The latter had confessed and re tho money. Frank Newberry who pleadwi guilty to a charge of theft of three cycles, was sentenced to six months prisonment.
