PERSONAL.

Mr B. H. Hooper, who has had considerable press experience in this country, but who for several years past has been employed in tho Agricultural Department, is leaving shortly for England, whore ho may take up his residence. He proceeds to Wanganui this morning, whence ho will travel via Taupo an<J Eotorua to Auckland, whore he will he joined by his family. Mr Hooper was farewelled by his fellowofficers of tho department on Saturday afternoon. Mr W. B. Perston, a well-known resident of the Wairarapa, died at his residence, Bideford, near Masterton, yesterday morning. Mr Perston was at one time manager of tho Bank of NewSouth Wales at Dunedin and Wanganui. Ho leaves a grown-up family. One of tho deceased gentleman’s sons is secretary of the Wairarapa Pastoral Society. His daughter is the wife of Mr H. E. Easton, and resides in England, but was recently on a visit to tho colony with her husband.
