VOLUNTEERS.
EASTER ROUTE MARCH. Battalion orders issued by Colonel Collins fix all parades during next week as Government inspection parades. Officers commanding companies are instructed to make the necessary arrangements for the route march of the battalion at Foster. Captain Turner has been appointed transport officer, and will visit Wairarapa next week to make arrangements for transport and provisions. The Wellington Highland Rifles paraded in the garb of Scotland for the first time last night. The white jackets and spats with the dark Seaforth kilts presented a striking appearance. Volunteer corps in the Wellington district who have not yet made other arrangements are anxious to learn definitely whether or not an Easter encampment will be held this year. Major Lovoday has arranged that the firing for Government prize money in the Wairarapa sub-district will take place at Mastorton on the 20th instant. The ranges for adults will be 300, 500 and 600 yards, and for cadets 100. 200 and 300 yards. There will bo five shots at each range.
