HOSPITAL TRUSTEES.

The fortnightly meeting of the Wellington jjistnco .nospitai irusices was held yesterday. Present—Messrs 0. Webb (chairman), A. Sample, 11. Mothes, H. Cook, R. C. Kirk, J. Ranks and C. M. Luke.

The. receipt ■ was acknowledged of a parccli of periodicals and illustrated papers from the Petonc Working Men’s Chip and of 15s from the club’s hospital It was reported that the in-patients numbered IC7 (92 males and 75 females). It was decided to refuse an application by Mr H. Lano for permission to build three houses on land in Botanical Gardens road leased by him. Accounts to the amount of £1077 2s 2d were passed for payment. Tho following recommendations of the House Committee were adopted:— That in accordance with a request from the Wellington Friendly Societies’ Council, the offer recently made by the Trustees to treat indigent members of any lodge attached to tho Council for the sum of ten shillings per week, providing that the Council guarantees payment at this rate for all such /members who may be admitted, bo altered by the omission of the word ‘ indigent.’ That letters of thanks be forwarded to Dr Wilson and Mr John Bett, of Palmerston North, and the secretary of the St. John Ambulance Association (Wellington Centre) for useful information supplied in regard to ambulance waggons. That applications for positions on the honorary staff be invited at once. That Mr John Smith be granted eight months’ leave of absence, and that .he be given a letter from the resident medical officer in order i hat he might visit tho hospitals at other places when passing through the Old Country. That tenders be called for the annual supplies. That Mr George Brown be informed, in reply to bis interview with r the Trustees, that outpatients from tho country would be granted the privilege of an early consultation- with the medical officer on any of the special days set apart for tho treatment of out-patients. That the question of metalling the Hospital road stand over for tiiO ) present. That a portion of the western court-yard be covered in similarly to tho service room; and that-tho-room be then utilised for a library and. dispensary, the present rooms to bo used for office purposes, subject to the approval of the medical superintendent. That the building at the back at present used for housemaids’ quarters be converted into a store-room.

It was decided to-ask Mr F. Penty to report whether a more suitable site for a building for tho treatment of fever cases could bo found ■ higher up the hill than the drying ground.
