IMPERIAL DEFENCE.
LONDON, March 10. Mr Gilbert Parker, M.P. for Gravesend, and formerly an Australian journalist, in a letter to “The Times” says that ho doubts the financial success of colonial remount depots during peace time. He advocates the experiment of the colonies and the Motherland cooperating in naval and military defence, with common financial responsibilities, and also suggests the fixing of recruiting stations in the colonies for the Imperial forces serving in the colonies and on active foreign service.
