Five fresh cases of plague are reported from Brisbane. Four vessels of the Australian squadron arrived yesterday in Wellington. Lord Methuen has been wounded and captured in an engagement with the Boers. The death is announced of Mr C. Y. O’Connor, Engineer-iu-chief in West Australia. A prize of .£4OOO has been offered for the first aerial voyage from London to Birmingham. Tho annual contests of the North Island Bands’ Association, commenced yesterday at Now Plymouth.
