lILIT TRAINING NOTES. Yesterday morning was favourable for training operations, ana seveial laicresling gaiiops look place at tno iuuit course. Both tan and grass gallops — tiie outside of the course proper —wore used. The latter was probably tno faster of tho two, and is very solid at present, notwithstanding the recent rain. The Yaldhnrst team ail worked on tho grass. Orioff (Hewitt) and Helen Fancit (a light boy) were bracketed for a half-mile spin, which the first-named ran in oOlsec. His companion was ridden out, but was beaten at any part of tho journey, and is probably not so w-’i as earlier in the season. St. Michael (Hewitt) cantered round to the top cf | Hie .straight, where Cruciform joined 1 in. Tho St. Loger filly, who is a hue ! pacemaker, had a slight advantage alcng j the back, but there was nothing bcj tween them at the finish. Both horses i went well, the last eight furlongs taking linin 4Gsco with a flying start. E. Cutts’s team, Goldonmere, Glenoglo and Cannie Chiel, worked on tho tan, but were not required to do their best. Ihe .same trainer’s two-year-olds, Dirk and Golden Vein, sprinted on the same track. Ayrcialo, Shrapnel Shell sud Battler hopped off at the six furlongs post on the grass. The two-year-old was beaten when half the distance vas covered. Ayrdalc won comfortably in Imin IDsec from Sbrapnc) Shell,_ vho was ridden out to keep his position. Ayrdale is a good track horse, and is possessed with plenty of pace. Ringlet dashed off at the seven furlongs post and covered half a mile at an even-time gait. Canteen (Hewitt) and Blazer (Jackson) broke away at the throequarter mile post. The grey got a break on at the start, which Blazer was unable to make up, finishing four lengths to the bad. Apparently Jackson held Canteen too cheaply, but the latter finished in the most resolute manner, and at once gained friends for the Telegraph Handicap. Tho six furlongs took Imin ISAsec. Goklspur rattled over JiaJf a mile on the grass, but did not put up anything in tho way of time, and appeared to feel the hard going. La Torpedo was no use to Languid, who ran five furlongs under a light impost in Imin sscc. Motor and Mooi went niceIv over six furlongs, finishing together. ■ Melwood, in his usual taking style, bowled over a few furlongs, rather an easy task for a Cup candidate. Pure Silver and Velocity started together for a mile gallop on the tan, but the former won easily. He registered Imin 39soc for seven furlongs. Frontier finished in front of Aldinga over five furlongs. Cornea, who is going to Foxton, galloped strongly, although not extended. Aido-de-Camp, who wont twice round at three-quarter pace, will also journey to I Foxton if bo stands up to bis work. Ho has a “leg.” and has been lately restricted to swimming exercise.
