At an Independent Labour Party meeting otMerthyr Tydvil, a lecturer is reported to have said that national bankruptcy was looming ahead, for the price of Government Stock had depreciated 15 n»r cent., with the result that, the Post Office Savings Bank was in an insolvent condition. A number of colliers, alarmed bv the statement, withdrew from the post office at Merthyr the whole of their deposits. some hundreds of pounds.
