■Special to the “Times.” - . DUNEDIN, October 16. The Chamber of. Commerce will meet next Wednesday to consider the Common, wealth tariff. ■The Katea- School Committee sent a deputation to tho Education Board to explain twfc matters, regarding which a complaint had been made to the Board. One was that' the committee had given permission to sawmillers to run a, tram through the glebe. The deputation explained that permission was given not by them,.but by a previous committee and on the matter being investigated it was found that the writer was a man who was chairman of the committee at the time the permission wasygiven. The Board’ pasjßpd a resolution;)expressing surprise that a complaint .should have proceeded, from a person who was head of the body that djcLwhat was complained of. - The Education Board will tc-morrow consider the advisability of reducing the value of scholarships to pupils residing in towns where education- is given so as to increase the' number of money scholar, ships at the Board’s disposal. This has been the worst bulb season for many years; but as compensation to gardeners it promises to be a record see. son for small fruit. The weather is uu_ usually mild.
