HOW TO MAKE ANARCHISTS.
I noticed in the (writes “AntL Anarchist") an article' on tne 'above euu ject a lew nays ago, m winch a coii-b----spondent, in nis naive simplicity, queried: Vvere mere any Anarchists xn j.\ ew ieaj lanu i —as if Human nature were not the same in ail countries wuere tno conditions under whicu men : live - are etjua 1. He seems to show great ignorance oi tue easy glaciations nv wmen a man is; turned Horn, a law abiuing citizen to what ne tails an Anarclnst. it we are without Anarchists at present, l venture to say (with, out being a propnet) we will not be witn out-tueni long, or no other uovernmeut the head or which will receive 'a ue putatjon from some 800 storekeepers and tneir dupes (their dupes being • the greatest factor, i should sayj tor the expref?j purpose ‘of inhuencing the Gov-emment-against some hundreds of honest people scattered throughout the towns and townships of. New-Zealand whose only crime is that they, in order to support their wives and families, are- content to try and make a living by gathering up the crumbs which fall from their tables,, while the storekeepers are enjoying, -their; leisure at the theatre and other places of amusement as suits their tastes- If thews the badness of their cause, and how well planned was - the conspiracy when the Bill was being sneaked through in the mean manner it was; .mixed up with other matter, so that the ..< public might not notice, and would not have done so but for -Mr Shrimski, who cried shame upon the plot, and thousands throughout New Zealand re.cchped '‘shame.’* And all this is being done under the name of benefiting the working men. The cor respondent referred to i'c Hving in-a fool’s paradise if he thinks the ruining, of- so many hundreds is not going to bring jibotit its bitter fruit and that speedily. Being an ‘‘undesirable’’ myself.- and a loyal Englishman. I may .state for'- the information of the Government, .that the compulsory half.holiday has almost ruin, ed many small - tradesmen already, and now if von bring in the Bill to close ns at six o’clock, you. will ruin us and compel hundreds to close altogether.
