-Various battalion commanders for mounted rifles hare been appointed. - Captain Loveday has been promoted to be major in command of the Second Wei lino-,ton Mounted Rifle Battalion, and Captain Dunk, of Palmerston North, ha? been promoted to be major, in command of the Second East Coast Battalion. The battalion staffs will no doubt be appointed as early as possible. The following .appointments are gazet-ted:—Lieutenant-Colonel John Watt, V.D., to command No. 2 Battalion (West Coast) WeUingtonßifles; Captain Georgs Kirton, to be paymaster, and quartermaster No. 2 Battalion ; Major John Chicken, V.D.; to command No. 3 (East Coast) Battalion; Lioutenant-Colonel John’ Ellis, V.D., to command No: 4 Battalion (Taranaki); Major W. A. Day, to be lieut.colbnel in command of North Canterbury Infantry. Battalion. The services of tho Castlecliff Rifles (Wangnnui) have been accepted. ’ - The Wellington Cycle Corps has been attached to No. 1 Rifle Battalion.
