‘ In the second race of tho series for tho America Cup the Shamrock crossed the line too quickly, giving the Columbia the windward berth, with twelve seconds lead. Tho breeze was light and flukey and a wearisome beat to windward took place, the Shamrock rounding the first mark 188 seconds ahead. Five miles of tho reach on the port tack had been covered when tho timelimit was reached, and the race declared* off. The Shamrock was then threequarters of a mile ahead- The race will be re sailed on Thursday.
