In a recent experiment in pig.fceding it m' found that when hardwood ashes pr hone' meal , waa given with remise meal there was a gain of one pound in weight for leas' than five pounds of maiae meal, while when the meal was fed alone it ‘took over 6f pounds to make a pound of gain, or to be exact, 4.87 pound) whep ashes were given, 4.9 pounds- with bona meal,'and: 6.29'when maiae meal was sole food. This is _ a saving of about 25 per cent, by adding 'the mineral matter of ashes' or bone meal. The none.meal should be mixed, with the maize meal in the mash, but the: ashes may be put in: a: clean ■ place i in the yard and the animal- allowed to help himself. ,
