(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) .... Tuesday, 7 p.m. A decision of some interest to the travelling public was given in the S.M. Court to-day. J. Nordloff sued J. R. Stansell, late hotel proprietor at Shannon, for the value of baggage left at defendant's ho. tel. From the evidence adduced it appeared that the plaintiff, after staying at the hotel some weeks, went away, leav. ’•I 1 ? Bis luggage in a room adjoining the hotel. During his absence the goads were lost or stolen, and plaintiff sought to recover their value. The Court held the.t plaintiff having left the hotel was no longer a guest, and the liability of the defendant hotelkeeper ceased. Judgment was accordingly given for defendant. A branch of‘the New Zealand Farmers' Union was formed at Bunnythorpe last night and a strong organising committee appointed. During the past week branch, es of the union have been formed in all surrounding townships. At the annual meeting of the StarrBowkett Society last evening it was sta : /d that £4500 had been advanced, to members during three years, the gross profits of the society being .£542 12s Id. There are 326 shareholders, holding 553 shares, and the profit per share for 1901 was 19s Gd gross and 6s 8d nett. Messrs G. W. Keeling and E. Grove were re-elected di. rectors.
