HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL.

The Hutt County Council met yesterday. Present —Councillors C. WHlrown (in the chair), J. Wakeham, J. Walker, Ci. Brown, 11. Mould, M. J. Lynch and H. The Inspector of Works was empower od to call for tenders for fencing two sections of tho W est road at Parapara* umu. It was resolved to notify the Lower Hutt Borougn. Council of Mr W- o. Milne’s declaration that Chew’s lane had been a pnblic road since 1843. The Clerk was instructed to notify all persons responsible that they must at once clear gorse and blackberries off tho roads fronting their properties. The Inspector was instructed to prepare plans and call tenders for widen, ing portion of the Ngatiawa road (to widen the cutting near Taine’s, and that portion leading down to tho river). The Clerk was instructed to demand royalty amounting to 6d per hundred foot from Messrs Gardiner Bros, in respect of all timber removed by them from the county roads. It was decided, ‘That this Council is ot opinion that the method insisted on by the Auditor General in tho jirepara" tion of the Council's statenienc of accounts is open to objection inasmuch ns tho statement does not show the true financial position of each riding. ’
