AiR REID AND FREETRADE. MELBOURNE, August 12. The annual Free trad o dinner wax largely attended by members of the Foclerad Houses. Air G. H. Reid declared that Air Barton’s attitude over old age pensions was a cruel deception of Australians. He coDjdemued the method of appointing members of the Civil Service. The Freetrade party wanted the tariff seta, tied. 'X.he voice of tbs people had not yet been heard on that question, and it would .have to be fought out at once, A mass referendum, of the people of Australia had sent a Freetrade majority into the Senate.
