Pritchard, were welcomed home by the residents of Tokomaru at a “social” on Fridav night. The guests of the evening were each presented with a_ gold Maltese cross as a.'memento of their service in South Africa. At the invitation of the committee of the Boys’ Institute a number of “old boys” attended at Godber’s rooms on Monday evening to welcome back from South “Africa three members of the Institute Farrier-Sergeant Hardham, Saddler Fernandos and Bugler Minifie. The Mayor presided. During the evening Lieutenant-Colonel Collins, on behalf of Trooper Mcßae, presented Sergeant Hardham with a_ gold albert chain in recognition of his gallantry in saving the latter’s life in action. It was for this brave deed that Hardham was recommended for the V.C.
