GOLF.

The first found of the championship of the Wellington Golf Club was played at Miramar on Saturday. The weather was against good golf, a heavy wind and showers of rain militating against the players, especially those who got last awav. The second round will be played on Saturday next, after which the best eight players in the aggregate will play a final round to ■ decide the championship. The best cards handed in for the first round were as follow:

A special general meeting of the Wellington Golf Club will be held in the Academy of Arts Building on Monday evening, 19th inst. to consider importune amendments of the rules. The club has been so successful during recent yexvs and has grown to such an extent that some improvement in the rules undir which it originally started has become necessary.
