P. Johnston went South yesterday with Battleaxe, Dummy and Dartmoor. The veteran campaigner Dummy has a bandage on his off hind leg. Battleaxe has not been persevered with for hurdle racing. His condition indicates that ho has not been idle since he raced at Auckland. Dartmoor’s chance in the hurdle race is considered by his trainer-jockey to he fair if the pace is not too solid. Strong opposition is anticipated from Tho Needle. * G. Rice, the well-known horseman, who has been on a holiday trip to Australia, returned here on Thursday last. The Caulfield Grand National Hurdle Race will he decided this afternoon. The Auckland Grand National candidate, panongate, and tho Hon. J. D.
