SYDNEY, August 2. Mr A. B. Joske, a r&sident in Fiji for twenty-three years, informed the “Daily Telegraph’ 1 “that the de-dre for federation with Australia is pretty general in the islands.” He considers federation with Now Zealand out of all reasonable reckoning, as Sydney is naturally Fiji’s best trading port. In the absence of an alliance with Australia, ho thinks the white residents in Fiji should be allowed to select the eight unofficial members of the legislative body who aro now selected by Downing street. He eulogised Sir G. T. O’Brien’s work in the group.
