MEETINGS.
A meeting of members of the JKTo. £ Co-operative Building Society of WeK lington was held last evening to decide byf ballot a loan appropriation. Mr F. Bat* to, chairman, presided. Messrs Jobsom and O’Connor were elected scrutineers,; The number drawn was 77, held by mi: member who holds three snares in the; society At the meeting of the Wesleyan Liter*; ary and Debating Society held last even*, ing. the life and poems of Sir Walter 1 Scott were dealt with. Mr H. C. Muatin contributed an interesting account of Sir Waller’s, life, and Mr Jl W. Card! a criticism on his poetical works, illustrative passages being read by some of the members. ' The Eev W. Oliver occupied the chair. Next Thursday evening will be devoted' to a debate on the question. "Is Party Government a Failure?’ ’ A meeting of the Wellington Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Society was held at the Trocadero last night, Mr A, H. Fnllforct, vice-president, presided, and a very large number of members were present. Accounts amounting to over .£l4O were (subject to some slight alterations) passed for payment. Notices of motion were tabled for next meeting to consider the advisability of registering the society. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr John Duthie for hia donation of £5 5» towards the Duthie trophy. The annual meeting of the Mount Cook Old Boys’ Association will be held on Monday evening.
