ENTERTAINMENTS.

THEATRE ROYAL. The Gaiety Company appearing this week at the Theatre. Royal was strengthened last night by the addition of the Woodward Brothers, song and dance artists of considerable ability. They had a very good reception. Tho performance went as smoothly as usual last night, and encores wore numerous. CHORAL HALL. The Empie Vaudeville Company repeated their excellent programme for the current week at tho Choral Hall last night. THE COMING OPERA SEASON. The opening production in Wellington cf the Mu? grove Opera Company will be “II Trovatore.” There will be ». change of opira every evening, but should any piece Iw- staged a second time there will be a complete change of cast. Mr Musgrove’s full company has been sent to Now Zealand, and their advent is a unique event inasmuch as the tour marks the first occasion on which grand opera has been fully staged in the colony. The company is at present playing in Auckland with the same success as attended tho Australian performances. The box plan will be opened in Wellington on Tuesday, the first night of the season being Saturday, the 10th inst.

The Royal Tour Bioscope Company terminated its Wellington season at the Opera House last night, in the presence of a fair audience. The best picture of the series shown was one of the Welling* ton Training School athletes.

Mr _J. W. Poynton repeated his interesting lecture on “Scientific Discover* ie-s of the Nineteenth Century,” in St. Andrew’s Church Schoolroom last night. As the Messrs Fuller are withdrawing from Now Zealand the last performance of the Empire Vaudeville Company will ho given on Fridav, the Bth inst. The firm now has a theatre in Sydney and contemplates opening another either in Brisbane or Melbourne.
