The session of the Wellington Diocesan Synod was brought to a conclusion last night. The annual 'conference of delegates from racing clubs opened in Wellington yester day. Mr Chamberlain states that the finances of Orange Biver Colony already show a surplus, A report of the Conference of Australian Commandants has been submitted to the Federal Parliament. Judgment was given by the’Court of Ap peal yesterday in regard to the issue of a -license to the Hotel Commonwealth, New Plymouth. Sir Gordon Sprigg, Premier of Cape Colony, is of opinion that the situation at the Cape is now brighter than at any time during the war.
