The Customs returns for the past week amounted to £6935 9s 7d, and the beer duty to £lO9 lls 9d. The amount received for Customs dues on Saturday totalled £417 6s.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report as follows:—At our Palmerston sale on Thursday the attendance was above the average, and we had a full yarding of all classes. Bidding at auction was rather slack, but we succeeded in placing the bulk of the entry privately at vendors’ prices. There was a good demand for well grown heifers in calf, and also good inquiry for young steers. Wo quote.—Sheep—2-tooth and f.f.m. German beet, 88deg., l}d lower, at 9s IJd per cwt; first-mark, granulated, f.o.b Hamburg, Ijd lower, at 10s 10jd per cwt. Bradford Tops—The market is firmer, but prices are unchanged. Common sixties, 18d per lb; super sixties, 18ifd per lb. THE PRICES OF METALS. Copper is quiet. Spot, 5s lower, at £67 5s per ton; three months’, 6s lower at £67 15s per ton. Tin.—Quotations are nominal. Spot, 35s lower, at £l2B 10s per ton; three months’, £ll6 per ton. Pig-iron.—Glasgow warrants, No. 1 cash, 3d higher at 51s per ton f.o.b. in ClydeLead, 2s 6d lower, at £l2 5s per ton. Spelter, £l6 12s 6d per ton. COAL EXPORT. WESTPORT, July 14. The coal export for the week ended Saturday was 7670 tons, which was shipped as follows: —Westport Coal Co., 7670 tons 1 cwt; Co-operative Coal Co., 99 tons 19 cwt. GREYMOUTH, July 14. The coal exports for the week were a 8 follows: —Blackbell Coal, Co., 1469 tons 19 cwt coal; Brunner Coal Co., 2559 tons 15 cwt coal, 61 tons 7 cwt coke, 15 tons 7 cwt bricks.
