PEESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, July 13. The Board of Conciliation award in the woollen mills dispute recommends that 45 hours should be a week’s work. Day workers to work 8J hours on five days, and 3i hours on Saturday, an hour being allowed for dinner; work to cease at noon on Saturday. Night shifts—Nine hours to be charged each fortnight. Overtime— Time and a quarter for the first four hours, and time and a half after that, each day to stand alone. Casual labour to be paid 7s fid per day. Piecework—Sub. contracting barred, and all work to be done on the premises. One boy allowed to four men in each department. In the event of short time all work is to be equally divided. Workers not enumerated to be paid: First year, 8s per week; second year, 12s; third, 16s; fourth, 20s; fifth, 245. The usual holiday clauses and preference to unionists. JAII workers dismissed since April 13, 1901, to be reinstated. Anything not provided for to be settled by a committee of three union members and three appointed by the employers, _with the chairman of the Board, and a log to be drawn up. Consideration of the wages of the knitters was postponed. An industrial, agreement is to be entered into before August Ist, and to remain in force till August, 1904. It was suggested that all machinery at the Kaia. poi factory should be supplied with mo. tive power.
