In the present condition of the frozen meat tade it is of interest to note what ie. being dona at the Jiiver Plate, from which the principal competition with the Australasian. -product comes. The closing of the British ports against Argentine live stock last year has now led to a considerable expansion of the shipments of frozen meat, and during the tot three months of the year the shipments have been heavy. The liiver Plate Fresh Meat Company, which shipped 788,648 frozen wethers end 83,061 quarters beef during the whole of 1900, has shipped 354,308 wethers and 541 quarters beef for the first ‘three months of this year,'against 179,787 wethers and 6443 quarters beef for the corresponding period last year. The Sansin* ena Limited has shipped >248,811 wethers and 31,450 quarters beef, against 180,748 wethers and 13,200 quarters beef for the corresponding period last year; and Las Palmas Produce Company, 207,514 wether* and 22,117 quarters beef, against 14,425 wethers and 15,785 quarters beef. Altogether the three companies have shipped 810,633 wethers and 92,108 quarters beef during the first quarter of this year, aginst 505.059 wethers and 34,433 quarters beef for the first quarter of 1900.
