rFF.SS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTHURCH, June 27. At Ashburton to-day Guard Fowke, who was in charge of the Royal train, missed his footing while boarding it. Ho caught the guard-iron, and hung on., At the engine-shed crossing his feet caught in a cattle step, and his shoes were torn off. Messrs Hill-Tre-vor and Ward and Lord Crichton came to his assistance, and pulled him aboard. The train was stopped by the signal cord. No serious injury was done to Fcwke, who was more concerned about; the stoppage cf .the train than of h«| shaking and bruises. AUCKLAND, June 27. A number of Auckland members of Parliament left to-day by the Rotoitj for Wellington. Messrs R. Monk, W, J. Napier, R. Houston and F. Herriea. M.H.R.’s, and the Hon IT. Williams, M.L.C., were passengers by the steamer, and others will proceed by the Ngapuhi on Sunday. NAPIER, June 27. Messrs Nelson Bros., Limited, received the following cable from the Colonial Consignment and Distributing Company, . London ;—“ To-day’s quotations— Best Canterbury, 4d; Napier, Wellington and North Island, 3d; lamb, first 5Jd, second sgd.”
