Seven hundred men struck work at Mort’s Dock yesterday. Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall paid a visit to Petone yesterday morning. It is reported that five hundred Christians have been murdered in Quelpnrt, an inland in the China Sea. A largo pro-Boer meeting was held in London, at which speeches were made denouncing the war in South Africa. The taking of evidence was concluded at Sydney yesterday in connection with the charge of murder' against Jane Smith. The scheme of old ago pensions put forward by the Government of Franco requires a capital fund of twelve million francs. In a speech at Cuxhaven, the Kaiser said that the mutual esteem and comradeship displayed by the allies in China bad ensured the peace of Europe for many years.
