At thp adjourned meeting of the Licensing Bench this morning the Magistrate postponed his decision upon the new license applications sine die, and also adjourned the renewal applications pending a personal inspection of the promises. CHRISTCHURCH. Juno 13. A requisition is being signed asking the Hon W. Rolleston to contest the Vacant city seat. REEFTON, June 13. The Rev Father Hickson, parish priest of Reefton, has applied to the Nelson Education Board to have the Catholic schools examined by the Government .School Inspector on his next annual visit. Hi.s request was refused on the ground that the inspector's time was too fully occupied. This is the second tim e Father Hickson’s application has been refused. HAWERA, Juno 13. At the inquest on Frank Molloy, the stable-keeper who was found dead in bed, a verdict of death from heart disease was- returned,.... ATSCJ>SAND, June 13. A fire occurred at Laud’s, pork butcher, in Queen street, this evening owi ing to a gas jet swinging against the wall. The damage is estimated at £2OO. The insurances wei> £IOO on the building and £2OO on the stock in the New Zealand office.
