Stj-che, who was convictedijat ~pjiristchn.rch . in November cf attempting to procure tho murder of his wife. The' new. trial; which was moved for under section 416 of the Criminal Code Act, 1893, on the ground that tho verdict was against. ,the f q-oight of evidence, was refused.- - •' Dr,. Findlay, acting for. Mr Joynt, counsel for the prisoner, asked that;tlie sentence of seven years’ ."imprisonment passed upon the prisoner, should run from tho date cf the sentence.. The application was adjourned to-the next sitting ,of the Court.of Appeal.
