EVENING ENTERTAINMENTS

The monthly meeting of the Gaelic Society was held in the Trocaderd, the Chieftain (Mr A. McAskill) occupied the chair. A very enjoyable evening was spent in songs and reading. Several reels were danced by the members, the society’s piper, Mr D. Campbell, supplying tho music. - .

The variety entertainment of the Puller Umpire Vaudeville Company at the Choral Hall continues to t's well patronised. A programme of sacred music is being prepared for. Good Friday night. Tho Dix Gaiety Company performed at the Theatre ‘ Royal last night to a good house. All tho ‘‘star’ turns were re-tle-raandod. and the programme throughout wont with a. swine. Mr E. H. Buckinchamls limelicht entertainment and illustrated descriptive lecture "In TTis Steps” was well patronised on Monday night at JohiiEouviile. The pictures il lustra Ihur'.both the lecture and songs are ‘very good. Mr Buckingham as a lecturer and singer is well worth hearing. To-night the Icctnro will be given at tho Federal Theatre. Manners street, and on Thursday night at the Victoria Hall. Newtown. 'Mr Buckingham will give some hints on voice- culture at cadi entertainment.

The Wellington ■ Orchestral Society held another successful rehearsal of Mr Maiigiian Barnett’s Jnhilce Ode last night at St. John’s Schoolroom. Tho concert- profiiises to bo unusually attractive. ,

The Empire City Athletic and Cycling Club Quadrille Assembly will commence its season on Thursday, 11th inst.
