The steamer Royalist, which is bringing a large number of the American, railway carriages for the Government from San Francisco, is due to arrive in Auckland* this week. The New Zealand Shipping Company are the local agents. The Gulf of Tarrauto is expected from Sydney this afternoon. Owing to quarantine restrictions, she will not lie berthed before Thursday. Steps will thou bo immediately taken to make her ready to receive the Seventh Contingent on Saturday.

Tho steamer Rimu is at present engaged in taking a load of timber and dredging material from Auckland for Greym«uth. She will then load with coal lor Kaipara. returning from the latter port with timber for Dunedin. The Bunn s next trip will probably bo to Wellington, the steamer afterwards going to Kaipara for timber, for either Wellington or Lyttelton. The Ronga, which arrived in non. worn Lyttelton yesterday, brought 27r> railway rails, 3 cases of railway material, and S 3 plates for the Government and 150 sacks of pollard, 40 sacks of wheat and 22 sacks of bran for local consignees. She has also on board 50 sacks of oats and two cases of machinery for Havelock. The Ronga sails for tho latter port to-mor-row to load timber for Lytelton.'
