SAN FRANCISCO MAIL.
AUCKLAND, January 23. The mail steamer Alameda arrived from Sail Eraucisco at midnight, liar ,ug made a record trip of .seventeen days fourteen hours. „ The passengers for New Zealand are: yfiss .Smith, Mesdames Skinner, Bainhridge, Hale’ Knight, Smith, Messrs Raymond, 11 erring, Bee.stoir, Bainhridge. Watts Hall, Hutchinson.
The Post and Telegraph ■ Department has been advised that the Alameda left f-ian Francisco at 9.42 p.m. on llutrs-d-av, January 3rd, but owing to heavy weather could not cross the bar until the following day. She arrived at Honolulu on the Gth and Pago Pago on the ■l7th, reaching Auckland at 11.15 p.m. oa Tuesday. There are 309 bags lor Newt Zealand. The Southern portion of the mail let! Qnehunga for New Plymouth by the Kgapulu at 10.30 a.in. yesterday, and js expected to arrive in Wellington h.V special train at 2 p.m. to-day. | The Ventura, wnioh is to relieve the Alameda, left Philadelphia on December 30th.
