FRICTION IN VENEZUELA

NEW YORK, January 18

Venezuelan concessionaires of the asphalt deposits are trying to oust the American concessionaires, and are utilising the revolutionary movement for the purpose. The Venezuelans seized two British steamers which were sailing under the Venezuelan flag in order to convey troops against tho rebels. The United States Government has despatched the first-class battleship Kearsage and the British Government the warship Scorpion to the scene of the trouble.
