AN ADVANCE IN PRICES. LONDON, Januay 15. The wool salts opened brisk, and merinos advanced 5 to < 1 pel cent, (Received January 16, 10.40 p.m.) LONDON, January 16. Messrs Balme, Buxton and.Jacomb’s joint wool catalogue comprised 7826 bales. There was a crowded attendance of buyers. A good selection of merinos was offered for which there was strong Continental competition at from 5 to 7‘ per oent, above tho November rates. Crossbreds were in less demand, fine bringing from par to 5 per cent, advance, medium low and imcbiuigcd.
