GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL.

GARDEN PARTY AND SPORTS

The ladv principal and staff of the Wellington Girls’ High School cuter- ; tniued a large gathering of parents and friends of the pupils at a garden party yesterday afternoon. The function, which was held in the grounds attached to the school, proved most enjoyable. Afternoon tea was served in a large marquee, and throughout the afternoon Jupp's Band discoursed excellent music. Croquet and putting competitions were held among the ciders, and for the pupils a lenghty programme of sports was provided. The grounds presented an animated appearance throughout the proceedings. Miss McLean, tlm lady principal, ably assisted by her stall, was most assiduous in her endeavours to minister to the pleasure of her guests. The sports wore superintended by the following committee of gentlemen; Messrs Joynt, Brandon, Biss, Bethune and Field. The presentation of prizes was made by Mr *A. de B. Brandon. At, the conclusion of the cheers were given le- the guests for Miss McLean. Miss Hamilton, the late principal of the school, was present at the festivities.
