T HAM WAYS BY-LAW. •VTOTICE is hereby given that the foil's! lowing resolution was passed at a Special Meeting of the City Council of Wellington, field on Tuesday, the 30th day of October, 1900, viz.: That the Council of the City of Welling, ton hereby make, by Special Order, the following By-law under the provisions of "The Tramways Act, 1834/' and under all other powers (if any) enabling them in this behalf, for the purpose of regulating the carrying on of the undertaking of “The Wellington City Tramways," of which undertaking the said Council are the "promoters’’ within the meaning of the said Act, and all extensions of such undertaking hereafter to be made. The said Bylaw is to come into force on the 10th day of DECEMBER, 1900. The above named resolution will be submitted for confirmation at the Ordinary Meeting of the Council to be held on THURSDAY, the 29th day of November, at 7,30 o’clock in the evening. The object and purport of the said Bylaw is as stated below, and a full copy thereof is deposited for inspection at the < iu.ee of the City Council, Brandon street. J. E. PAGE. Town Clerk. Ist November, 1900. The object and purport of the abovenamed By-law is as follows; 1. Passengers to give up their tickets when required by the Inspector. 2. The Council to have the right to .demand the return of all packet or card tickets within seven days after notice, giving, new tickets in exchange for same. 3. The Council may limit the number of passengers to be carried on any Tram Carriage, and prevent any person from entering any car which contains its full number of passengers. 4. The Council may appoint stopping places and prevent persons from being taken on, or put down from a carriage except at one of such stopping places. 5. To provide that no passengers shall smoke tobacco inside any carriage; that no dogs or other animals shall be carried; that>no loaded fire-arms shall he carried, and that no intoxicated person shall be allowed to ride in or upon any carriage. G. That nil vehicles shall be kept off the Tram lines for a space of 50 yards in

front of any carriage. 7. That any person oilending against the By-law shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding forty shillings. 087 ' COUNTY OP HUTT.
