A DESERVING CASE
AN APPEAL FOR SUPPORT. It appears that the widow of the late James Wilson, who was drowned from the Ladybird coal-hulk on Saturday last, is left entirely destitute. What adds to the adversity of the widow is that she has a family of five children dependent upon her, the eldest of whom is twelve and the youngest three years. As the care of these children will take up all the mother’s time, it lias been determined to appeal to the public for monetary assistance. Messrs W. H. Scoones, coal foreman to the Westport Coal Company, Limited, J. Smith, of the U.S.S. Co., J. Bruton, H. Hayes, of the Black Ball Coal Comply and Henry C Fuller, president of the Wharf Labourers’ Union, have been appointed’ a committee to undertake the raising of funds to assist the distressed 1 family. Oh behalf of. the committee we commend this case to public consideration, and any money sent to ns for the purpose mentioned will be duly acknowledged in our columns.
