NEW ZEALAND’S BUDGET.
AUSTRALIAN CRITICISM. SYDNEY, August 27. The " Sydney Morning Herald,” reviewing the New Zealand Budget, says the spirited example set in establishing a penny post may encourage the Commonwealth to adopt the principle. Referring to the question of trade reciprocity, the "Herald” regards the interests of Now Zealand and the Commonwealth as clearly similar, and not affected by the fact that New Zealand is not within the Commonwealth. The prosperity of New Zealand detracts nothing from, but rather adds to the prosperity of Australia. The Commonwealth and New Zealand could make just such a combination as would be calculated to bring out the best qualities of the race; and to them, whether joined or sundered, belongs in a peculiar way the fate of the Pacific.
