Mr H. E. Wigram has placed his house in Park terrace, Christchurch, at the disposal of the Governor for a fortnight in November, amt his Excellency has accepted the offerThe Hon J. G. Ward, who has .been on a visit to the Hon John McKenzie, le/t Lyttelton lust night for Wellington. ’A' Press Association telegram says that Mr Ward found the cs-ivunister in good snirits.
On the occasion of his being promoted to the position of railway tratiic snperiiitendent for the North Island, Mr Alex. Grant was presented by the merchants of Auckland with a gold watch, chain and pendant as a. mark of the donors’ appreciation of the manner in which ho administered the Auckland railways when occupying the position of traffic manager. The marriage was celebrated yesterday afternoon, at St. Thomas's Church, Newtown, of Mr T. S. "Young, manager of the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Express Company, and Miss Emily Tlookham. The bnue was given away by tier father, and was attended by Miss Cissy Hookham, Miss Maggie Mae'fahon and Miss Cissy Petqrs as bridesmaids, the bridegroom being attended by Messrs W. Hookham, W. Bi;own and W. Hendry. The ceremony was performed by’ the Rev Otlio Fitzgerald. Among the numerous presents were a marble clock and a silver teapot from the managers of the Express Company’s branches in the colony, as well as a cheque from the directors and a silver cruet and butter dish from the local employees.
