FINANCE AND TRADE.
The Customs returns for Saturday amounted to £1172 6s 9d; for the past week, ,£20,622 10s 2d. The beer duty for the week totalled £l6O 16s Gd. The report of the Northern Boot and Shoo Manufacturing Company (Limited), for the year ending July 31, appears to he of a satisfactory character. The net profit for the year amounts to £607 Is Bd, and with the net balance brought forward from last year, makes a total of £2629 10s 9d at the credit of profit and loss account. . The directors recommend the payment of a dividend at the rate of five per cent, per annum on the paid-tip capital. The usual 10 per cent, has been written off the total amount of plant account for depreciation .
COMMERCIAL CABLES. nu:ss association'. LONDON, August 24. Tin is declining. Spot, £7 16s lower, at £136 per ton; three months’. 30s higher, at £129 per ton. J'lg iron—Glasgow warrants. No. 1, cash, 9s 3d lower, at G3s 6d per ton f.o.h, in Clyde. COAL EXPORTS. GREYMOJTUH, August 26. The exports for the week wore; Blackball Company, 1404 tons 17cwt; Brunner Company, 2820 tons. WESTPORT. August 20. The coal output from Westport for the past week was 7194 tons lOcwt, of which the Westport Coal Company shipped 0901 tons 7cwt, and the Co-operative Company 233 tons 9ewt.
