At a meeting- of thO Christchurch scctiou of the Teachers’ Institute resolutions of the meeting of women teachers with regard to their position-and remuneration were considered. After considerable discussion motions were agreed to as follows: —(1) That ,the ; mooting feels strongly: that the salaries at present paid to women arc too low; (2) that ,-£BO per annum shall be the minimupi salary, offered to a certificated woman teacher and that she shall have reasonable chances of promotion; (3) that in schools staffed with two teachers women shall ho eligible for the position Of head of the school. Several other motions passed by the meeting of women teachers were postponed for consideration at a future meeting.- - -—v
