ALLOCATION OF I'CBLIC MONEY. Tim Consolidated Estimates for 190019UX were laid oil the tabic of the House yesterday. Appended are some of tue principal item* :—- The RegEtraf of Bulbs. etc., at Wellington, is raised from £2OO £225. The, sum cf £IOOO is put down for the cost ol taking the census in 1901. The salary Of the Agent-General is raised from £1250 to CTSCU. The salary of the Government Printer is raised from £460 t'o £4BO, and the total vote ol the Printing Office is increased from £21.6'/3 to £25,151. The salary of the Undcr-Svcretary, Colonial Secretary’s Department, *is raised from £450 to_£47s. In the miscellaneous services votes of the Colonial Secretary’s Department appear the following items ; —Advance to Cook Islands Government for the purchase of an auxiliary oil-engine schooner, £5(1011; contribution to Wellington City Council towards repair.; to truckle street, £25; contribution to Indian Famine Relief Fund, £50(31); contribution to Ottawa Fire Relief Fund, .£5134; fconipipisaliou to it. Hackworth, AgentGeneral’s office, cm retirement from .service, £681; compensation to J. The vote for experimental trawling is increased from £3OO to £BOO, and there is an item of £IOOO for new lighthouse dwellings at Farewell Spit, and a vote of a’similar amount for Admiralty .survey, New Zealand coast. ■ The vote for Government steamers, working expenses within or outside the coloiiy, is £16,000, and there is an item of £BOO for repairs’ ta the Hluemoa';. STAMP AND ■ DEEDS - 'DEPARTMENT. A vote of £750 appears for printing inks, and one of £3OO fur perforating machines. ' - EDUCATION DEPARTMENT. The grants for public schools, on a £3 fas- basis, is put down at £389,750, tiro same as last year.
