An unusual case under the Factories Act anti the jsinployment of Boys and Girls Without Payment Prevention Act came before Major Eocalcll, S.M., today, the. defendant being Mrs Wade, a dressmaker, who also conducts a class for the instruction of girls on Wednesday afternoon, tho statutory half-holiday in Invercargill. Inspector . Sbauaghan admitted the fact that the girls were not cnipjoyees, but contended that the factory could not bo used l for the purpose. The Magistrate held that section 68 of tho Factories! Act, applied only to employees, and therefore dismissed tho case.
