The surplus plant advertised for sale at. ‘auction by Messrs George Thomas and Co. e n behalf of the 'Wellington Barbour Boar! was offered yesterdav in .1 shed. There was a good attendance of buyers, and very satisfactory prices wero realised. Some of the items were not disposed of., and are now open for private sale. Tha clothing and drapery sale being conducted by Mr W. B. Shortt is being well attended by the public. WBIi this week’s “Canterbury Times.” in addition to the usual illustrated supplement. an excellent page portrait of Major Robin, officer in command of the first New Zealand contingent in South Africa, is given away. It is beautifully printed in colours on fine toned paper.
