OUR VOLUNTEERS.

The Naval Cadets had a large muster last evening under Lieutenants Me. Keever and Dutton. -Government parades of the College and Kelburne Rifle companies were held at the central Drillshed last evening, there being a very good attendance of the College corps and a fair one of the Kclburnes. The companies were exer. cised in pnysical -drill and manual exer-cise,Lieut-Colonel Collins being the . inspeoting officer. . The I) Battery had ■ its customary goofl muster at last night’s parade, between sixty and seventy answering' roll-call. Colonel ,Messenger was present and inspected the battery, after which ./Lieut.Smith was advanced 'a ;stage .in the practical -part of his examination, he putting the battery through Tiro discipline, Colonel/Messenger acting oh behalf'of the/examination board. Mr Charters, of, Thermion school, .was last night elected a lieutenant of the Kelburne Rifles. ; Inquiries are rife in Volunteer circles as to when the- results of the volley: firing by the various companies o' IVellington battalion for ' the , district prizes are likely to be made' public. About three months have now elapsed since tho .completion of the,course, and in other districts the results have been, published - weeks' back. ' So far' no - teason has been given, for, the delay that has taken place in Wellington district. ■
