PIGEON SHOOTING.
WEI.LIXOTOX PROVINCIAL GUN CLUB. SHOOTING FOR THE £l5O HANDICAP. The weather yesterday was admirable. for shooting purposes, and consequently the large number of competitors who gathered round the Wellington Provincial Gnu Club's traps on the old show grounds at the Hutt made some rattling good shooting. The new arrangements made by the c-lub were mueli appreciated, especially the provision of an enclosure, which prevented the encroachment of the public, and gave the competitors a clear field and no favour. The birds were on the whole lively, but a wind blowing into the traps was rather in favour of the guns. Some remarkably good shooting was put up by the crack shots from differe.nt parts of the colony, as the scores disclose. Messrs Eccle’s, Grier, Holman. Dobson. Cheeseman. Dunlop. Mackersey. Broderick, Hamilton, Redwood, Graham, Rotter, Kyle, Kilminster and Jlciiney tied, in their first and second nominations, and decided to divide £ll2, taking £8 each. These competitors decided also to shoot off for the remaining £3B. with the result that Mr J. Kyle, ol the Hutt. won from the 21 yards mark, shooting twenty-one birds without a miss, and using the second barrel twice only. The runner-up was Mr C. Maokersc.v. of Hawke’s Bay. who. shooting from the 30 yards mark, .killed twenty birds without a break, all'! used tinleft barrel four times only’. Appended arc the scores in detail;—■ FIR ST XOMIX ATIOX.
