Another case of bubonic plagne is reported from Adelaide, the sufferer being a boy. The Imperial authorities have accepted the services of a contingent of Australian bushmen. The death of Mr G. W. Steevens, the brilliant wap correspondent, is reported from Ladysmith Osman Digna has, according to the London "Daily Telegraph,” been captured at Tokah Hills.
Major-General Sir He my Bundle has been appointed to command the Eighth Division of the British Army.
News from Capetown, indicates that the Boers contemplate the destruction of Johannesburg, having mined the town. The troopship Waiwera, with the second New Zealand foreign service contingent, sailed for Capetown via Albany on Saturday. General Buller’s transport equipment consists of five thousand vehicles, but the difficulties, owing to heavy rain, are said to be very great.
The German Minister of Foreign Affairs declared in the Reichstag that British naval officers had received instructions not to interfere with German vessels unless ’ they carried contraband of war.
The Governor has received a cable message from the Secretary of State for the Colonies expressing at tne loyalty shown by New Zealand in despatching a second contingent to the Cape.
