EVENING ENTERTAINMENTS
OPERA HOUSE. At the London theatre for which it was written, Messrs Landeck and Shirley’s drama, “Woman and Wine,” continued so steadily in favour that another play written to succeed it was not required at the time calculated’ by the management. When that time came, the presentation of Dick Seymour’s vicissitudes in his plunge into the dissipations of Paris was still drawing such large audiences that its withdrawal was deferred. The drama was produced at the Opera House last night for the second time, and again its progress was followed with interest by ah audience which fully occupied all parts of tho theatre. Each department of the Bland Holt Dramatic Company did its utmost to achieve success, and that end was certainly gained. Whatever .the more cynical may have thought of some portions of the drama, everybody had praise without reservation for the scenic and mechanical effects employed in its presentation. So pathetic are some of the incidents in “ Woman and Wine,” and so exciting others, that the broad comedy supplied in such generous measures was gladly -welcomed. -
The programme of the entertainment to be given in the Sydney street Schoolroom to-morrow evening in aid of the “ Good Luck ” stall -at the forthcoming Easter Carnival, will, besides the'musical items, include a progressive euchre tournament for prizes.
