Sb'bad was I that-1 had to be removed to the Melbourne Hospital, where several leading surgeons performed a difficult operation on. my hip, which however did not result: as was wished. After the operation, the physicians recommended my removal to the Austin Hospital for Incurables, as no pne thought I would recover. The complaints which had attacked me so violently were galloping consumption and tuberculous affection of the hip. One of the worst symptoms was a continual racking cough which wrenched my frame whenever, a fit overtook me.
